Idaho Department of Health and Welfare awards HMS two cost containment contracts

HMS (NASDAQ:HMSY) today announced that it had been awarded two cost containment contracts by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (IDHW), which administers Idaho's Medicaid program. Under the first contract, HMS will to identify third party coverage for casualty and liability claims paid by Idaho Medicaid, and pursue recoveries. HMS will also provide third party recovery services, including cost avoidance, post payment recovery, and credit balance reviews.

The contracts extend through June 30, 2012, with the option to renew annually for two additional years.

HMS has served IDHW since 1997, generating more than $78 million in recoveries and saving the agency $570 million through cost avoidance efforts.
