HMS (NASDAQ:HMSY) announced today that it has been awarded a contract by the Kansas Health Policy Authority (KHPA) to conduct Medicaid Subrogation Services, including Casualty and Estate Recovery services. HMS will identify cases for action and implement best practice recovery procedures.

“KHPA is committed to meeting federal regulations and controlling the cost of Kansas's Medicaid program”

The contract extends through June 30, 2012, with two additional one-year renewal options.

"KHPA is committed to meeting federal regulations and controlling the cost of Kansas's Medicaid program," said Peter Hancock, Public Relations Director for KHPA. "This is the first time the agency has procured Medicaid Subrogation services. Our decision to expand our contract with HMS to include these services demonstrates our confidence in their ability to deliver unprecedented results."

HMS has been providing Estate Recovery services to KHPA since 2007, and has recovered over $15 million during that time. The addition of casualty services will help KHPA ensure that it optimizes recoveries to the Kansas Medicaid program.
