Elsevier to offer computed tomography through Mosby's Imaging Suite

Partnership makes leading CT Basics series available to health care organizations

Elsevier, the world's leading publisher of scientific, technical, and medical information products and services, today announced an exclusive partnership with The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) to provide a complete series of computed tomography modules through Mosby's Imaging Suite for technologists' continuing education. This partnership will provide technologists access to the highest quality continuing education, and will give hospital management the best tools to ensure patient safety.

Mosby's Imaging Suite is the first fully integrated, online solution developed to meet the routine communication, workflow, education, and compliance challenges of radiologic technologists and managers. Hospitals will be able to licence the CT Basics modules through Mosby's Imaging Suite, and allow access to the entire radiological staff.

Composed of 10 interactive modules, the CT Basics series provides radiologic technologists (RTs) with a full overview of the fundamentals of computed tomography. The modules feature colorful images with easy-to-understand animations that engage participants in the learning process. The complete package covers a broad range of CT topics, including fundamentals of CT; equipment and instrumentation; data acquisition, applications, imaging processing and reconstruction; patient safety, imaging quality, procedures; and sectional anatomy and pathology.

Because CT training often is not provided in the classroom, many technologists learn this specialty through hands-on experience and on-the-job training. With ASRT's CT Basics modules available through Mosby's Imaging Suite, technologists will now be able to learn the basics through self-directed learning, in addition to on-the-job training.

Radiologic technologists will earn 14 Category A continuing education credits and receive a Recognition of Achievement from the ASRT following the successful completion of all 10 modules. The complete CT module package will be available through Mobsy's Imaging Suite beginning in Q4 2010.
