PracticeMax, a provider of revenue cycle management and software services, today announced it has acquired Medinomics, of Shreveport, La., expanding the operations and geographical footprint of PracticeMax throughout the southern United States. Medinomics provides practice management (PM) and electronic health record (EHR) solutions, and billing services to physician practices and hospitals across the southern region.

“The acquisition of Medinomics is another step in PracticeMax's growth strategy, solidifying our commitment to being at the forefront in offering robust healthcare technology solutions that will help medical practices optimize their business performance”

Because Medinomics is an authorized reseller of eClinicalWorks EHR and PM solutions, the acquisition broadens PracticeMax's suite of technology offerings, enabling PracticeMax to provide its customers with additional options to improve the efficiency and profitability of their practices. PracticeMax currently assists medical practices in the selection, implementation, training and management of a number of leading technology platforms, including NextGen and SequelMed, and will now be able to support eClinicalWorks solutions as well.

"The acquisition of Medinomics is another step in PracticeMax's growth strategy, solidifying our commitment to being at the forefront in offering robust healthcare technology solutions that will help medical practices optimize their business performance," says Bill Carns, CMPE, CHBME, chief executive officer at PracticeMax.

Carns described the acquisition as a significant benefit for the company's combined customer base: "At PracticeMax, we recognize that a 'one size fits all' approach to EHR and PM system selection simply won't work for most healthcare practices. Since the company's inception, we have been committed to recommending customized solutions for our customers. The synergy created by the expansion of our EHR and PM system suite enhances our ability to meet the unique needs of each practice, which is especially important in today's challenging economic and regulatory landscape."

Patrick Lukacs, CPA, CHBME, chief executive officer at Medinomics, will join PracticeMax in the role of vice president of software services, and will be responsible for the Shreveport office and PracticeMax's software-as-a-service (SaaS) division.

"I am pleased to have the opportunity to join a very well-established and influential management team with a strong track record in executive healthcare leadership," says Lukacs. "In addition, the Medinomics customer base will now have access to a greater breadth and quality of resources than previously available, allowing the physician groups we serve to keep pace with the demands of the ever-evolving healthcare environment."

Carns adds: "Patrick will bring extensive healthcare and technology expertise to our management team. I have enjoyed working alongside him in leadership roles at the Healthcare Billing and Management Association and am confident that his experience, leadership and integrity will fit in nicely at PracticeMax."
