Long overdue since "I've fallen and I can't get up", today San Diego based Independa, Inc. ("Independa"), launched integrated technologies and subscription services to help family caregivers help their elderly loved ones live at home longer, safer and more comfortably.

"With Independa, the promise of innovative and disruptive Healthcare 2.0 technologies is a reality," said Matt Marshall, executive producer of DEMO. "Independa stood out as we looked for integrated web-based and mobile technologies that not only address large market opportunities, but in fact are transformational to our healthcare system. Connecting families and improving lives while dramatically reducing long term costs are what we believe as deserving of the DEMO Fall stage."

Independa provides simple yet powerful medication and appointment reminders as well as emergency alerts to prevent the escalation of crisis events. Independa offerings include an easy-to-use online dashboard, rich reporting and an administration console for the caregiver to let them know how their loved one is doing at all times.

An upcoming Android-based wireless tablet computer, named "Angela" interfaces with wireless home and health sensors in the care receiver's home. Angela's specifically designed to be simple and empowering for the elderly. For starters, no computer knowledge is required. Simple screen taps enable access to email, social networking, the web, fun games and even video chat sessions. Through unobtrusive wireless sensors, family caregivers can enhance the health, safety and social well-being of their loved one from a distance, whether across town, or across the country.

"Today there are 46 million family caregivers in America, 600 million worldwide, with numbers about to explode thanks to aging baby boomers. It's time we leverage advances in wireless technology and the Internet to give family caregivers previously unavailable capabilities and peace of mind at compelling price points," said Independa CEO, Kian Saneii. "We're honored to be coming out of stealth mode at the prestigious DEMO Fall conference."

Scheduled for general availability in the fourth quarter of 2010, Independa is actively recruiting Beta testers. The Company has successfully closed its second seed round and is now in active discussions with additional investors.
