Planet Beach® Franchising Corporation, a recognizable leader in the health, wellness and beauty industry, has launched a lower investment version of its successful Contempo Spa™ franchise.
The new version of the Planet Beach Contempo Spa model has a lower franchise fee, half the total investment and lower build out costs than the current version. These franchises are designed specifically for smaller spaces and do not include traditional UV-therapy, a first for Planet Beach.

A Planet Beach Contempo Spa is a unique spin on traditional day spas: customers pay a monthly membership fee for spa services in a private room with fully automated, push-button machines performing the spa and wellness treatments. The Contempo Spa concept was the first of its kind when it was launched in 2005; and Planet Beach now has over 300 locations worldwide.
Despite the recession, the day spa industry is thriving. The number of spa locations has grown an average of 20% each year, according to the International Spa Association. In the United States, total spa industry revenues grew 32% from 2005 to 2008, to $12.8 billion, spa visits increased 22% over the same period, to 160 million. Spa-goers want flexibility and shorter treatments, which the Contempo Spa delivers.
The new Contempo Spa offers some of the same popular day spa treatments available in larger franchises: massages, guided meditation, detoxifying sauna treatments, body hydration stations, the Lumiere facial, Mystic sunless tanning, teeth whitening and red-light therapy.
Launching a Planet Beach Contempo Spa now requires as little as $40,000 in up-front cash with a $10,000 single-unit franchise fee. Total investment is well under $200,000 and new franchise owners can lease much of the required equipment.
