Boston Software Systems, winner of the 2010 McKesson® Automation Supplier of the Year Award for Customer Focus, today announced that Product Manager Thom Blackwell and Reese Walker, financial systems analyst at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, will deliver four presentations at InSight 2010 Annual Conference, Colorado Convention Center, Denver, CO, September 14 - 17. In the sessions, Blackwell and Walker will explain how workflow automation can improve financial and claims management, and data entry in McKesson hospitals.

“Automating Financial Item Master/Service Item Master (FIM/SIM) Updates”

All of the presentations will take place at the Boston Software Systems' Booth 407 in the Product Solution Center.

Reese Walker will discuss how Phoebe Putney has implemented Boston Software Systems' workflow automation tool, Boston WorkStation™, to automate the claims management process, resulting in reduced errors and recouped revenue. After studying the claims review workflow, Walker deployed Boston WorkStation to automatically examine the data, make the required corrections to claims and automate the manual entry of the claims, enabling staff to focus their time on claims requiring special attention. As a result, Phoebe Putney has been able to accelerate the recovery of millions of dollars in claims, reduce days in A/R and consistently shrink the failed claims amount by as much as 86 percent.

It is critical that McKesson hospitals keep the Finance Index Master (FIM) and the Service Index Master (SIM) updated to ensure staff is using the Chargemaster effectively. More and more McKesson hospitals are using task automation tool, Boston WorkStation to update new items FIM/SIM to these indices. Blackwell will demonstrate how to automate FIM/SIM updates, which will result in dramatic time savings and increased data accuracy.

How much time does your healthcare staff spend on direct data entry by manually keying information from a spreadsheet into systems or applications? How is your revenue cycle affected by inaccuracies or delayed updates? Blackwell will show how Boston WorkStation easily automates manual tasks, like direct data entry, to eliminate delays and system inaccuracies, and save time and human resources. In fact, any task for which you can explain the steps to a staff person can be automated by Boston WorkStation.
