One of the top priorities for healthcare facilities today is improving operational efficiency. To help address this issue, University Hospitals Case Medical Center (UHCMC) in Cleveland, Ohio, rated among the best hospitals in the nation, recently purchased a suite of systems from Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc., including an AplioTM MX, two XarioTM XGs and two AplioTM XG systems. These ultrasound systems are enhancing workflow and efficiency as they allow the hospital to perform a variety of patient exams including organ biopsies; intra-operative imaging; and thyroid, lung and pancreas exams.

“At UHCMC, finding ways to improve our workflow not only benefits the business of our hospital, it also ultimately benefits patients by providing them with stellar service and care”

"At UHCMC, finding ways to improve our workflow not only benefits the business of our hospital, it also ultimately benefits patients by providing them with stellar service and care," said Himanshu Pandya, vice president of Radiology, University Hospitals Case Medical Center. "Toshiba has been a great partner for us to deliver on this commitment because it offers advanced technologies that we are able to use for a wide variety of patient and facility needs."

Dr. Dean Nakamoto, section head, Abdominal Imaging, University Hospitals Case Medical Center, who uses the Aplio XG daily, added, "The high resolution of the Aplio XG provides a crisp, clear image, allowing us to see exactly what is needed while imaging a patient. This helps improve workflow because we can image a patient faster, saving time for both the patient and the facility. Additionally, using Toshiba's ultrasound systems, we can quickly and safely perform multiple exams, from biopsies to intravaginal exams."

The ergonomic design of Toshiba's ultrasound systems promotes operator comfort and ease of use. "Our staff enjoys using this equipment because it is comfortable and easy to use. The easy user interface is important for our sonographers, because many of them use Toshiba systems at multiple locations and are able to quickly and easily image patients using any Toshiba system, saving time for the facility and our patients," Dr. Nakamoto continued.

UHCMC also utilizes Toshiba's exclusive Precision Imaging technology on its ultrasound systems. Precision Imaging acquires ultrasound images with outstanding clarity and resolution, enabling users to see clinical detail. As a multi-resolution signal-processing technology, it not only evaluates images line by line, but also includes information from adjacent lines to enhance the amount of information obtained.

"Toshiba's ultrasound technology delivers on our commitment to develop equipment that allows customers to provide the best in patient care," explained Tomohiro Hasegawa, director, Ultrasound Business Unit, Toshiba. "Our ultrasound product line is designed to perform a variety of exams, which is ideal for large, prestigious facilities like University Hospitals Case Medical Center."
