Cancer Treatment Centers of America deploys Intel's personal health system solution

Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) is deploying the Intel® Health Guide - a next-generation personal health system solution that allows physicians and clinicians to proactively monitor their patients' care at home - as part of its commitment to provide patients with the information and resources they need to make educated decisions about their cancer care.

CTCA will be able to gather timely information about the status of patients, and collect and prioritize data to monitor and modify their care while at home using the Intel Health Guide. Patients will be engaged in their own care through customizable educational content and access to their own health information, furthering efforts by CTCA to help patients take control of their cancer so that they can take control of their lives.

CTCA, a national provider of innovative cancer treatment for nearly 30 years, is currently deploying 100 Intel Health Guide systems to patients throughout the country as the latest initiative in its HopeLink program. The HopeLink program incorporates the key differentiating features of the Intel Health Guide such as video conferencing. Further, CTCA has enabled the seamless integration of patient data into the hospital network's electronic health record to provide both patients and oncology care team members with the information and resources they need to make informed decisions about cancer treatment and ongoing care. Patients and their health care teams can connect via any type of broadband connection.

The Intel Health Guide combines an in-home patient device, the Intel® Health Guide PHS6000, with the Intel® Health Care Management Suite, an online interface that allows clinicians to securely monitor patients in their homes and manage care remotely. This solution is one of the assets that the Intel Digital Health Group is contributing to the new healthcare joint venture formed by GE Healthcare and Intel, which was announced on Aug. 2 and is expected to be operational by the end of the year, pending regulatory and other customary closing conditions.
