NextGate, a leader in the IT indexing field, today announced that Geisinger Health System, widely recognized for its advanced electronic health record (EHR) and execution of innovative care models, is implementing NextGate's patient indexing software. The software will enhance the coordination of patient data across the health system and enable care providers to access patients' most up-to-date clinical information regardless of location.

“NextGate's software provides the comprehensive features, flexible architecture, and real world usability we need to match patients between our health information and EHR systems”

In addition, NextGate software will enhance the sharing of critical clinical information between participating healthcare providers in the federally funded Keystone Beacon Community, as well as participating providers in the Keystone Health Information Exchange (HIE). NextGate's software enables the sharing of clinical data in a standardized, consistent, and secure manner, promoting organizational efficiency and most importantly, increased accuracy in the assessment of patient health information. Data will be available from any location, averting costly duplicate procedures and improving patient satisfaction.

"NextGate's software provides the comprehensive features, flexible architecture, and real world usability we need to match patients between our health information and EHR systems," said Ernie Ishman, Geisinger's Director of System Integration and Support.

"We incorporated our previous experience with Geisinger and hundreds of other Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) implementations into building MatchMetrix so that healthcare organizations could simplify and enhance the management of their patient data," said Andy Aroditis, CEO, NextGate. "As the industry's premier Enterprise Master Index specialist, NextGate is focused on providing healthcare systems and HIE initiatives with products to elevate patient care."
