US-based Life Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: LIFE), a provider of innovative life science solutions, announced today that it has launched a regional distribution hub in Singapore to address strong customer demand in the Asia Pacific regions of India, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Life Technologies' new Asia Distribution Center (ADC), located in Singapore's Tuas Biomedical Park, will boost the quality, availability and timely delivery of Life Technologies' products to its customers in the area.  The Asia Pacific region is one of the company's key growth drivers; Asia Pacific sales (excluding Japan) grew over 15 percent in 2010.

Life Technologies provides customers with systems, consumables and services that enable researchers to accelerate scientific and medical advancements.

"Life Technologies is at the forefront of a revolution in genetic research that will dramatically improve how we look at healthcare and medical therapies, changing the way we develop agriculture and energy products," said Gregory T. Lucier, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Life Technologies.  "By locating the Asia Distribution Center in Singapore, we can bring our innovative technologies more efficiently to our customers in the region and help translate their research into real-world applications."

"Asia Pacific is our fastest growing region in the world," said Mark Smedley, President of Asia Pacific for Life Technologies.  "Opening the Asia Distribution Center here is a clear demonstration of Life Technologies' commitment to the international scientific community, who increasingly conduct high-level research and development in Asia.  The Center will greatly enhance the timeliness, accuracy and reliability of our product distribution to our thriving customer base in this region."

The ISO 13485 certified ADC was set up in August 2010 and adopts a hub-and-spoke model, with Singapore as the regional hub for Life Technologies' product distribution throughout Asia, excluding Japan.  The facility spans a built-up area of 62,300 square feet (5,790 square meters).

Since the ADC's inception, Life Technology's volume of items shipped per day in the region has increased four fold, with dramatically improved order fulfillment time that is up to 50 percent faster in most cases.

"The Asia Distribution Center marks an important milestone for Life Technologies, and reaffirms our central role in ensuring that the most talented, dedicated and experienced scientists have the best tools to aid them in their research and development, wherever they are," said Mr. Lucier.
