The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC), a non-profit standards development organization and accrediting body, announced today that it has accredited its first medical biller under the Healthcare Network Accreditation Program (HNAP) Medical Biller. Sourcenet, a premier physician billing and practice management firm, achieved full accreditation and is recognized as adhering to strict health data processing and transactions, and ensuring compliance with industry-established standards and HIPAA regulations.

“Being the first medical billing company to achieve this accreditation allows us to set the standard for our industry. We now stand out in the crowd and identify ourselves as a premier company with a commitment to compliance.”

HNAP Medical Biller accredits companies that handle sensitive data as part of their coding, billing and others services on behalf of hospitals, health systems, provider organizations, labs and other types of healthcare organizations. Through the consultative review process, EHNAC evaluated Sourcenet in areas of privacy measures, systems availability and security infrastructure. In addition, EHNAC reviewed the organization's process of managing and transferring protected health information and determined that the organization meets or exceeds all EHNAC criteria and industry standards.

"With recent changes in legislation and compliance requirements, this is a crucial time for medical billers to ensure that they're adhering to the latest standards in privacy, security and confidentiality," noted Lee Barrett, executive director of EHNAC. "In order to earn EHNAC HNAP Medical Biller accreditation, medical billers are required to demonstrate excellence and a commitment to ensuring the security and privacy of health data processing and transactions for their customers. Sourcenet joins this select group of EHNAC-accredited organizations and leads the path for the medical billing community."

"At Sourcenet, we set high standards for our staff, our clients and our vendors. I felt that EHNAC provided the additional guidance and confirmation to take Sourcenet to the next level and identify our commitment to privacy, security and confidentiality in healthcare," says Emily M. Osetek, CHBME, president, Sourcenet. "Being the first medical billing company to achieve this accreditation allows us to set the standard for our industry. We now stand out in the crowd and identify ourselves as a premier company with a commitment to compliance."
