Ascom to add alarm functionality to its i62 Protector for safe working environment

Ascom Wireless Solutions, the leading supplier of on-site wireless communications will add advanced alarm functionality to their VoWiFi handset, the Ascom i62 Protector, enabling personnel to feel secure when working in isolated environments or alone.

Eva Brandt, Product Manager for the Ascom i62 product line comments, "Personnel at prisons, psychiatric wards, hospitals, and even retail outlets can face physical danger on a daily basis. In some countries, lone-worker legislation requires employers to assess whether an employee is at significantly higher risk when working alone. In these situations, lone workers need wireless equipment they can rely on in situations which make them vulnerable. Feeling safe and secure in a working environment can often result in higher staff retention and improved job satisfaction due to reduced stress. For this reason, we are adding Ascom's advanced alarm functions to the i62 Protector."

Ascom is an industry leader in the development of alarm messaging functions such as man-down / no-movement alarm, silent assistance option and alarm prioritization. With these functions available in a wireless handset, mobile staff that might find themselves in a vulnerable situation can now work more freely and with more confidence, secure in the knowledge that if they need assistance, help will be available.

"The Ascom i62 Protector was launched in September 2010 and has been well received, in particular by the hospital segment", says Brandt. "Now, we feel the handset has achieved a level of maturity that we can add the alarm functionality. With the man-down/no-movement functionality, we have completed the entire product offering for the i62 line, available in Talker, Messenger and Protector versions."
