Abortion-rights groups are facing tough choices about where to challenge new restrictions on abortion and other reproductive health services in the wake of a sharp increase in both state and federal legislation on the issue. Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, a Republican, is expected to sign a bill that aims to cut off Planned Parenthood's funding in the state, and legislatures nationwide are considering a range of other proposals to limit access to abortion (Baker, 4/28).

Florida's legislature is on its way to passing one of the most comprehensive packages yet seen at the state level to limit women's options for abortion. After Republican members of the Florida House pushed through six bills on Wednesday that would limit access to abortions for women and teens within the state, the Florida Senate on Thursday afternoon passed its version of two of the measures — a bill and a proposed constitutional amendment that would ban the use of public and insurance exchange money for abortions, The Associated Press reports (Fung, 4/28).

Abortion foes scored a third major win Wednesday when a bill to regulate abortion clinics cleared the Kansas Legislature. The Senate voted 24-15 to approve a bill requiring the state's three abortion clinics to be inspected twice a year, including one unannounced review (Brad Cooper, 4/28).

Former Sen. Rick Santorum, who has criticized Gov. "That's an organization that has a very sordid history and founding and one that I still think focuses in on activities that a lot of people have moral objections to," Santorum said in an interview with CBS News political analyst John Dickerson Thursday (Delgary, 4/28).
