InVivo Therapeutics (OTCBB: NVIV), a company focused on the development of groundbreaking technologies for the treatment of spinal cord injuries (SCI), today announced that the Company has entered into a sponsorship agreement with Boston-based Piers Park Sailing Center (PPSC) to support a non-profit sailing initiative for the disabled.

The Company's sponsorship agreement is a three-year commitment to support the Adaptive Sailing Program, which fosters rehabilitation, recreation and empowerment for people with disabilities through sailing. The nationally recognized program, which has twice been awarded the "Outstanding Program for Disabled Sailors" award by US Sailing, hosts clinics and events for the community including underserved children with disabilities and disabled veterans.

"The Adaptive Sailing Program at PPSC and InVivo share the same vision of giving people with disabilities the tools to live active and empowered lives," said Frank Reynolds, CEO of InVivo Therapeutics. "By developing groundbreaking new approaches to treatment and by supporting initiatives that support people with SCI and other physical disabilities, InVivo is committed to shaping a better present and future for SCI patients. After my spinal cord injury in 1992, the possibility of captaining my own sailboat on Boston Harbor would have been a true fantasy. The Adaptive Sailing Program makes that a reality for people with all kinds of disabilities."

Said Maureen McKinnon-Tucker, Director of the Adaptive Sailing Program, "This program was created and designed to be an empowering sailing opportunity unlike anywhere else in the country. Sailing as a captain rather than as a passive passenger is a dream come true for all our paralyzed sailors, especially for our quadriplegics. Our Sip & Puff system integrates full control of the boat's steering using just their breath. This innovative system is truly a rare recreational gift to empower those who have lost use of their arms, maybe also lungpower, as well as their legs. Frank Reynolds is a well respected visionary in our paralysis community and we couldn't be prouder to be both supported and associated with InVivo and their incredible mission."
