Campbell Soup Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Campbell Soup Company (NYSE:CPB), will kick off its 37th annual Campbell Soup Summer Program on Thursday, June 2, 2011.
At the event, the Campbell Soup Foundation will donate $385,000 to fund summer camp programs for 10,000 Camden-area youth. The donation will support 26 summer programs run by 25 nonprofit organizations.
For 37 years, the Campbell Soup Foundation has sponsored numerous nonprofit organizations that offer summer camps focused on arts and culture, education, recreation and career exploration activities for socially and economically disadvantaged Camden youth. This year's Foundation grants will benefit elementary, middle and high-school children in Camden City. The summer camps provide opportunities for children to participate in a variety of fun and educational activities during the summer when they might otherwise be idle.
The Campbell Soup Foundation will kick-off the Summer Program at the Campbell Employee Center Courtyard at 1 Campbell Place. More than 40 children from the Holy Name School will participate in nutrition education, hula hooping, aerobic activities and more.
