"At least 20 people have died due to torrential downpours in Haiti, authorities said Tuesday, and aid agencies are scrambling to respond to a resurgence of cholera triggered by the heavy rain," CNN reports (6/8).
A rain storm hit Port-au-Prince late Monday and Tuesday, triggering "flashfloods and mudslides, causing roofs to collapse and debris to be dumped on roads that became rivers of mud. The storm was the worst yet after 10 consecutive days of steady showers," the Miami Herald writes (Charles, 6/7). According to PAHO, the situation in Haiti's capital city "continues to deteriorate and most cholera treatment centers are working at 'full throttle,'" CNN reports (6/8). The U.N.
