WMS, Elsevier to recognize outstanding members of wilderness medicine community

Elsevier, the leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, will present awards to outstanding members of the wilderness medicine community at this year's upcoming Wilderness Medical Society 28th Wilderness Medicine Scientific Conference & Annual Meeting, taking place in Snowmass, CO, July 29th - August 3rd.

The aim of the Wilderness Medicine Society is to provide academic background as well as deliver specific skills to health care professionals that will make them effective providers of relief in austere environments and adverse conditions. This year, the WMS is introducing a certification program, starting with "Wilderness Medicine: Disaster and Humanitarian Response."

Elsevier is excited to collaborate with the WMS to recognize individual members that are outstanding in this increasingly important field," says Randy Charles, Managing Director of the Global Clinical Reference Division at Elsevier.

  • The Elsevier Leadership in Wilderness Medicine Award will be presented to a member of the wilderness medicine community who has shown exceptional commitment, energy and focus to saving lives - while acting as a guide and mentor to those around them.
  • The Elsevier Excellence in Education Award will recognize four outstanding students in wilderness medicine.
