Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT) was selected as a double-winner in the 18th annual National Health Information AwardsSM. The program is coordinated by the Health Information Resource Center, a national clearinghouse that recognizes the nation's best consumer health information programs and materials.
Health Net was a Gold award winner for its "News You Can Use Press Initiative" package, which placed the company in the in the top 5 percent of all entries this year.
"It's important for consumers to participate in their health care decision making," said Margita Thompson, vice president of Corporate Communications at Health Net. "Knowledge is power and quality health and wellness information helps people ask the right questions to make educated decisions regarding their health and well-being."
The company also won a Bronze award for its "Fit Providers for Life" program kit. The company partners with medical groups, doctors and their staff to provide tips and tools that allow them to develop their own customized wellness programs. These productive partnerships help promote and sustain healthy behaviors.
