Outside groups launch TV ads warning about Medicare cuts

Americans United for Change, AFSCME, SEIU and MoveOn.org are among the groups targeting GOP lawmakers regarding proposals to cut Medicare. Meanwhile, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is striking back with ads of its own warning about government-run health care.

Politico: Outside Groups Begin Assault With Ads
Television spots paid for by Americans United for Change, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and Service Employees International Union pressure Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg, Nevada Sen. Dean Heller and Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown to protect Medicare. Meanwhile, the Chamber of Commerce is on the air with its first commercials of the cycle, attacking Democratic Sens. Sherrod Brown in Ohio and Jon Tester in Montana. Friends of the U.S. Chamber strikes Tester for supporting "government-run health care" and challenges Brown on energy taxes (Catanese, 11/16).

Kaiser Health News: Capsules: TV Spots Target Three Republicans On Medicare Cuts
The AFSCME and SEIU trade unions, along with the liberal advocacy group Americans United for Change, are warning Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass. and Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., that votes in favor of Medicare and Medicaid budget cuts will be unpopular with seniors (Eisenhower, 11/16).

Roll Call: MoveOn.org Launches Super Committee Ad
MoveOn.org Political Action launched a 30-second TV ad Wednesday aimed at dissuading Democrats on the super committee from agreeing to any cuts to Medicare. The ad is running during morning cable talk shows for the next week, ending just as the super committee hits its deadline. The group also plans to hold rallies Thursday outside the local offices of super committee Democrats (Trygstad, 11/17).
