As 2011 comes to a close, the National Hospice Foundation is pleased to announce that it has distributed $55,000 to 35 hospices around the country, thanks to the generosity and dedication of participants in its Run to Remember® program.
Run to Remember is an athletic charity fundraising program that provides runners (and walkers) with the opportunity to memorialize a loved one while raising money for hospice.
Run to Remember offers runners at every skill level online training and fundraising support and the opportunity to direct 50 percent of the funds they raise to the hospice of their choice.
In 2011, Run to Remember participants ran in races across the country, including the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, the Marine Corps Marathon in the nation's capital, and The Bourbon Chase, a two-day, two-hundred-mile race through the hills of Kentucky. Participation is not limited to these races; anything from 5K to marathons or beyond is possible.
Registration for 2012 races will begin in January 2012. There will be "post close" opportunities for popular races.
