Royal Hospital for Women launches new Mother’s Day campaign

The Royal Hospital for Women Foundation (RHWF) with the support of celebrity ‘Royal’ Mum Ambassadors, has launched its new Mother’s Day campaign, Me2Mum, where the gift of a flower will help raise vital funds for care of newborn babies and Mums at NSW’s only hospital for women.

Royal Mums Antonia Kidman, Kim Watkins and Libbi Gorr are helping the Foundation’s Mother’s Day celebrations through the Me2Mum campaign, sharing their stories, along with those of new Royal Mums, and encouraging people to give their mum a virtual flower on the colourful new website, www.me2mum.com.au.

Kidman, Watkins and Gorr gave birth at the famous Royal Hospital for Women where some 4000 babies a year are delivered at the home of the first antenatal clinic in NSW and the longest running in the world, with the hospital boasting nearly two centuries of care for women and babies.

Foundation Chief Executive, Penelope Hess, said visitors to the cheerful Me2Mum web site can purchase a virtual flower or even a bunch of flowers by making a tax-deductible donation to the Foundation, and can leave a special message for their mum on the charity’s heart tree for all to see.

“There’s no need to wait until Mother’s Day to send mum a bunch of flowers - they are available now and can be purchased for as little as $10, and up to $100 with your own special message being sent to Mum with the virtual flower,” she said.

“And its not just limited to mums; people can also send a message from the heart to their wife, sister, or a very special woman who has been an amazing influence in their life. It is also a great way to honour someone’s memory.”

Me2Mum ambassador, respected journalist and Royal Mum Ambassador Kim Watkins, said she is honoured to be helping out with the campaign.

“This adorable campaign is set to help women and babies who may have serious or life-threatening illnesses,” she said.

“Apart from the 1000 premature and critically ill babies who receive care in the most advanced facilities in the Newborn Care Centre each year thanks to the Foundation, there are also 10,000 women a year cared for at the hospital, which the Foundation supports.

“There is no better gift on Mother’s Day than supporting all Mothers with the power of a flower through this easy and joyful gift campaign.”

The Foundation also invites families to spend a day spoiling Mum at the much-loved Mother’s Day Royal Picnic, a free event being held at the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park on Mother’s Day, Sunday 13 May.

Now in its sixth year, the Mother’s Day Royal Picnic brings families together to celebrate Mums across NSW at a fun community event.
