HDL earns Gold Level award in AHA’s Fit-Friendly program

Health Diagnostic Laboratory (HDL, Inc.) has earned the Gold Level award in the American Heart Association's Fit-Friendly program for championing the health of employees and creating a culture of physical health and wellness within the workplace.

"Health Diagnostic Laboratory makes the world healthier," said Tonya Mallory, co-founder and CEO of HDL, Inc. "We live this goal every day both inside the company and in the services we offer to the public. To do this we start with our employees by providing a healthy culture to work every day."

The Fit-Friendly Companies program by the American Heart Association is a catalyst for positive change in American businesses. Companies participate by demonstrating progressive leadership in making the health and wellness of their employees a priority.

Health Diagnostic Laboratory was recognized for:

• Offering all employees physical activity support at the worksite.
• Increasing the number of healthy-eating options available to employees.
• Promoting a wellness culture at the worksite.
• Embracing criteria as outlined by the American Heart Association in the areas of physical activity, nutrition, and culture.

As a Gold Level Award recipient, Health Diagnostic Laboratory was honored for not only recognizing the importance of a healthy workplace for its employees but also for taking the important steps to create a culture of physical activity in the workplace. The award honors the growing laboratory for promoting a wellness culture by providing support to employees and for implementing physical, nutritional, and cultural changes.

Health Diagnostic Laboratory, which also recently won the Best Places to Work Award by Virginia Business Magazine, is expanding its advanced testing model in 2012 to help other corporations implement measurable screenings and action plans.
