BFC develops new Fertility App

Well in short the answer is yes if you are trying to conceive! And in this day and age where the smart phone is consulted over every aspect of day to day life, why shouldn't you rely on app to manage your love life as well!

The Fertility App has been developed by Barbados Fertility Centre (BFC), a JCI accredited centre of excellence for IVF treatment located in the Caribbean and is the first app of its kind produced by a health care provider.

The medical team at BFC pride themselves on new and innovative ways to treat patients and felt that by embracing new technology and launching the Fertility App that they are going another step closer to relieving stress on patients.

With infertility affecting one in six couples and more women focusing on their careers and leaving the idea of children until their late 30's and early 40's, when their fertility is declining, it makes sense to download an app of this kind.

Veronica Montgomery, Marketing Manager at BFC said, "The app has been developed with every couple in mind who have made the life changing decision to start a family, we hope it will help couples conceive more easily and that they won't need fertility treatment. However, the app covers everything about natural and assisted reproduction so that couple's are aware of treatment options as well."

The app has an ovulation calculator, which is connected to the calendar. This then syncs with the users device to send them alerts and reminders. The user can add appointments and medications and there is a full medical glossary explaining all the medical terms associated with both male and female fertility. There is also a full description of pre conception supplements and medications and their effects on the body when trying to conceive.

BFC have also compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions from their patients and there is a healthy lifestyle section to improve a couple's chance of success.

Within the Fertility App there is the opportunity to connect with BFC on Facebook & Twitter for daily updates from the medical team, they can also watch videos on the BFC YouTube channel and connect with other people trying for a baby in the patient support forum – http://www.caribbeanfertilitysupport.com/.

If a couple have had no success after 12 months and need medical assistance they can also connect directly with the BFC medical team from within the app and request a consultation or go directly to the BFC website for more information.

The Fertility App is available for download from the App store for iPhone & iPad.
