Society for Women's Health Research Board Chair to address NFWL in Tampa

Stressing the importance of urological health and increased funding into women's health research, Lindsey Kerr, MD, Chair of the Society for Women's Health Research (SWHR) Board of Directors and founder and director of the Urologic Wellness Center at Eastern Maine Medical Center will address the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) in Tampa, Fla. today.

The luncheon is part of the NFWL's focus on women's health issues, specifically focusing on areas of unmet needs. Since urological issues are so prevalent among women, yet rarely discussed, Dr. Kerr was chosen to address this challenging area and share her expertise on the issue.

"It is a privilege to address this group of women legislators about urological health and to emphasize the importance of increased research in this area," said Dr. Kerr. "Women's urological health is a vital component to a woman's overall well-being. By sharing the challenges in this area, I hope to raise awareness about this great need."

The National Foundation for Women Legislators is comprised of currently elected and previously elected women to both state and federal office. While the luncheon is occurring during the Republican National Convention, it is not an official convention event.

In addition to chairing the SWHR Board of Directors, Dr. Kerr was previously an associate professor of urology and director of the Pelvic Floor Center at the University of Utah. She has served on the Board of Directors of the National Association for Continence and was their national spokesperson. Dr. Kerr received her Medical Degree from Duke University and completed her urology training at the Mayo Clinic and Foundation. She also completed her Master's degree in immunology followed by a fellowship in female urology and pelvic reconstructive surgery at Harvard University.
