"The Obama administration is expected to continue including science and technology (S&T) in its diplomacy agenda, according to interviews with a number of people recognized for their contributions to international science cooperation," SciDev.Net reports. "But in the face of government spending cuts that could occur in 2013, U.S. diplomatic efforts in S&T may be more reliant on collaboration with the private sector," the news service adds. The feature examines the potential effects of budget negotiations, the impact of the Arab Spring, and the "emerging priority" of biomedical solutions to global health issues, the news service reports (Maughan, 1/29).
