Allenex (STO:ALNX) announces that Allenex group company AbSorber, together with EUROSTAM, a consortium of European Transplant Centers, has been supported by a € 2.6 million grant as part of the European Commission 7th framework programme (FP7). This is part of an ongoing Europe-wide strategy to enhance transplantation of highly sensitized patients where risk of complication is high due to genetic mismatches. The main objective of the three year project is to determine the clinical value of implementing a Europe-wide acceptable HLA mismatch program to facilitate more as well as safer transplantations on highly sensitized patients all over Europe.

The XM-ONE crossmatch test, developed by AbSorber, will be used throughout this project and AbSorber will also develop a modified version of XM-ONE that enables not only detection of anti-endothelial antibodies, but that can also determine if the antibodies are complement fixing or non-complement fixing, which might be another risk factor. XM-ONE crossmatch clinical relevance for highly sensitized patients will be established. From the €2,6 million grant, AbSorber will receive €215.000 during the three year period.

"We are proud to be selected as a collaborator into the EUROSTAM consortium. This is a strong recognition of the product XM-ONE as well as the research and development done within AbSorber. It is encouraging for our development team to be recognized for the innovation of XM-ONE", says Anders Karlsson, CEO of Allenex and AbSorber. "We look forward to further develop XM-ONE into a transplantation product with a proven clinical value in cooperation with leading European transplantation centers", he concludes.
