BlueWater Seafoods’ Grill Fish products gets gluten free certification from GFCO

NewsGuard 100/100 Score

BlueWater Seafoods, a Canadian leader in frozen prepared seafood, is proud to announce that their Grill Fish line of products have been certified as gluten free by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), the leading gluten-free certification program in the world. This third-party endorsement from the GFCO, which is operated by the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America, guarantees that BlueWater's nine varieties of Grill Fish products are free of gluten and gluten-containing grains such as wheat, barley, rye, and triticale. GFCO-approved products represent unmatched reliability for meeting strict gluten-free standards.

“At BlueWater, we strive to bring consumers the freshest ideas in sustainable seafood, including delicious gluten free options”

BlueWater Seafoods offers nine varieties of gluten free Grill Fish which are lightly seasoned and flame-grilled with real herbs and spices, and are sourced responsibly under BlueWater's Trusted Catch™ seafood sustainability program. The high-quality fillets - including Grill Haddock, Grill Tilapia, Grill Salmon, and Grill Fillets made from wild-caught Alaska Pollock - have the same mouthwatering flavour that consumers know and love from BlueWater, without the gluten.

BlueWater's Grill Fish products have been gluten free since 2011, when procedures and ongoing testing and monitoring were implemented at the production location to avoid cross-contamination. Understanding that gluten free consumers value third-party validation for reassurance, BlueWater solicited the GFCO inspection and received GFCO certification in May 2013.

"At BlueWater, we strive to bring consumers the freshest ideas in sustainable seafood, including delicious gluten free options," says Frederica Turner, Marketing Manager for BlueWater Seafoods. "We know how hard it can be for people with celiac or gluten intolerance to find convenient, inexpensive options and to trust what they buy is gluten free. We hope the GFCO certification helps reassure them that our Grill Fish meets their dietary needs."

To share the news with consumers, BlueWater Seafoods is sponsoring a booth at the Toronto Gluten Free Expo, one of the largest gluten free events in North America, on September 14th and 15th. Consumers can visit BlueWater Seafoods at the Gluten Free Expo, held at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, to sample Grill Haddock and Grill Salmon fillets and learn more about the full line of gluten free products.

"With so many Canadian's needing gluten free solutions, it's wonderful to see companies ensuring their products are safe through regulated certification programs," says Margaret Dron, Event Producer for Gluten Free Expo. "Many consumers assume that seafood would be gluten free, but are caught off guard with symptoms caused by the flavor coating many pre-packaged foods include. BlueWater's certified products will be a very welcomed addition to the Gluten Free Expo, and gluten free community as a whole."
