Oncology CRO makes more significant contribution to cancer philanthropy during 2014

Ockham Development will partner with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of North Carolina chapter during 2014 to increase its commitment to cancer-directed philanthropy and collaborate with the Society to support the company's personal health and fitness goals.

"This partnership is important to us because of the Society's complete focus on cancer and those affected by this disease," said Jim Baker, CEO of Ockham. "By working closely with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, we can increase our contributions to a vital cause and at the same time strengthen our employee health and fitness initiatives."

The partnership announcement comes after several corporate initiatives during 2013 designed to raise money for cancer patients while promoting overall employee health. The effort, known as the Stronger Together fitness campaign, encouraged employees worldwide to get in shape by preparing for regional road races.

Employees sought contributions from friends and family members to raise money to contribute to a family struggling with pediatric cancer. More than $20,000 was raised by Ockham employees in Scotland and North Carolina; in addition, related contributions were secured to help two recipient families. Two non-profit organizations, the Joe Andruzzi Foundation in the U.S. and Anna's Fund in Scotland, helped identify the recipients.

During 2014, as the company launches its second Stronger Together campaign, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) N.C. chapter will assist Ockham with race logistics for the Old Reliable 10k, part of the City of Oaks, a Raleigh-area regional road race scheduled for November 2nd and the Tour de Pig 100k in October.

"These events -- and the people they benefit -- have become part of our core ethic," said Baker. "Stronger Together will become a symbol of our commitment to help families battling cancer while improving the health of our own team."
