Survey: Most Americans favor health law's birth control coverage mandate

The 2010 Affordable Care Act requires health insurers to pay for contraception as part of 10 essential benefits, including vaccines and cancer screenings. It's the most controversial requirement, with religious groups, some conservative commentators and some employers objecting (Fox, 4/22).

    The results of this survey would be more meaningful if legal protections under both the First Amendment or the Religious Freedom Restoration Act where premised entirely on the popularity at the time of the government action violating said protections. However, said protections are not.
