RedRick Technologies, a provider of custom engineered ergonomic reading workstations, monitor mounting solutions and reading room environments, is attending the upcoming Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) Annual Meeting on May 15 - 17, in Long Beach, CA. RedRick is raising awareness about the beneficial impact of a well-designed reading environment on radiology department customer service, clinical quality and productivity.

While much has been written about the impact of reading room ergonomics on radiologist health and productivity, there has been little discussion about the benefits of optimizing the overall reading room environment and location. Recently, work published in the Journal of the American College of Radiology has identified benefits of embedding subspecialty reading rooms in the relevant clinical area. The urgent need for radiology to shift from volume-based to value-based imaging, is also underscored by the American College of Radiology Imaging 3.0TM initiative. The radiology reading room should be considered another tool to support this shift.

"Increasingly, we are asked to help clients optimize existing reading workflow beyond radiologist reading efficiency," says Greg Patrick, President of RedRick Technologies. "While ergonomic, well designed furniture creates a critical foundation for maximum productivity, a well designed and optimally located reading room environment must be the overall goal. Our consulting services ensure that space design, environmental control, lighting, acoustics and workstations, all work together to support the needs of your department."
