InteliChart, a leading provider of patient engagement and health information exchange (HIE) technology, announced today that St. Bernards Healthcare, the largest healthcare integrated delivery network in northeastern Arkansas, has selected InteliChart's Enterprise Patient Portal to deliver a single portal solution for its system of acute and ambulatory care facilities.

InteliChart's Enterprise Patient Portal will integrate with the Meditech electronic health record (EHR) in St. Bernards acute care facilities and with up to eight different ambulatory EHR systems -- including NextGen, Allscripts, Greenway and Aprima -- in approximately 25-physician practices throughout the community.

"Our technology brings the convenience of a single portal solution to engage patients in their healthcare received in both acute and ambulatory settings, while providing the infrastructure for physician practices, hospitals, and healthcare systems to share data across a single platform," said Gary Hamilton, CEO of InteliChart.

Single Patient Portal

"Having a consistent brand and patient experience across all of our ambulatory practices and hospitals is significant in shepherding our patients to actively engage in their healthcare. Furthermore, being able to share an aggregated clinical dataset with a patient and his or her entire care team will lead us towards our goals in optimizing our patient health outcomes," said Chris B. Barber, St. Bernards Healthcare president and chief executive officer. "We chose InteliChart because they were able to integrate multiple EHR systems across the enterprise and community and deliver a single patient portal for our patients."

The portal will provide patients with direct online access to their medical records, including test results, medications, visit summaries and discharge instructions. It will allow patients to update their healthcare information and communicate directly with their care team. The patient portal also will allow patients to request prescription refills, schedule appointments and pay bills. Enrollment in the patient portal will be easy with access available 24/7.

Patient Portal to HIE

InteliChart's Connected Health Platform delivers a seamless progression for an initial Enterprise Patient Portal to a full HIE solution for the enterprise and community. St. Bernards will leverage the infrastructure established with their patient portal deployment that includes all the necessary API, web services and interface connections with their acute and ambulatory EHRs, as well as InteliChart's registry of aggregated and standardized clinical data. Deploying the InteliChart Patient Portal and InteliChart HIE on the same platform provides predictability for success and sustainability as information exchange evolves from patient to provider to patient and their entire care team throughout the enterprise and community.

"As patient care models, payment structures and mandated data reporting continue to evolve," Hamilton said, "InteliChart's HIE solution will provide a runway for future initiatives, including medical homes, bundled payments, population health management and innovative accountable care solutions. We look forward to working with St. Bernards to help them continue to achieve new milestones in connected healthcare to streamline workflow, boost revenue and improve patient care."
