New Brightree Document Management simplifies storing and access to reimbursement documents

Brightree, the leading provider of cloud-based clinical, billing and business management software solutions for the post-acute care industry, announced today the release of new Brightree Document Management capabilities that strengthen a home medical equipment (HME) provider's ability to protect reimbursements and respond more efficiently to additional documentation requests (ADRs).

Unlike document imaging solutions on the market today, Brightree's document-aware system is native to the Brightree platform, which creates seamless workflows between Brightree's core billing system and the process of obtaining, storing and accessing reimbursement documentation. Built-in intelligence checks for payer- and product-specific documentation requirements give providers confidence that the proper documentation is on-hand before confirming or delivering orders. This helps eliminate the risk of fulfilling non-reimbursable orders and not maintaining proper support for ADRs. Advanced recognition technology ensures 100 percent of Brightree system-generated documents make it to the right place automatically without any human intervention, reducing the manual labor associated with document filing.

Since implementing Brightree Document Management, Advanced Medical DME has been able to dramatically increase efficiencies across its reimbursement team. According to Gwendolyn Kluver, director of reimbursement at Advanced Medical, "Before switching to Brightree Document Management, my biggest frustration was the time our reimbursement specialists wasted trying to find documents because the documents were not correctly attached to the patient record. Brightree's integrated system, along with the review rules, have eliminated these errors and helped increase our efficiencies."

According to Chris Watson, Chief Operating Officer of Brightree, "More than 800 HME providers have chosen to depend on the Brightree Document Management solution to discover new efficiencies across all aspects of their businesses. This latest release is our most comprehensive to date, and it is targeted at helping providers reduce the time and effort spent on responding to audits. We are pleased nearly half of our customers have already moved to the new solution and are seeing significant increases in productivity and tighter documentation controls."

Key enhancements available in the new release in July include:

  • Integrated AuditResponseTM Workflow - Integrated AuditResponseTM workflow reduces audit response times by 60-70 percent for Medicare audits. Users can directly respond to audits within the Brightree platform, eliminating the need to navigate back-and-forth between separate billing and audit response systems to obtain audit information and supporting documentation. Providers can see their audit status directly from the patient record and can easily identify document history with color-coded identifications. New document consolidation and integrated print/fax tools also reduce response time when responding to non-Medicare audits.
  • EasySortTM Workflow - EasySort workflow reduces the effort associated with managing multi-page scanned documents, especially during the patient intake process. After scanning, users can electronically manipulate documents by changing the page order; separate and sort pages into multiple documents; remove individual pages from documents; and/or file directly into the patient's record.
  • Electronic Fax Integration - Now providers can consolidate multiple documents into a single fax to respond to audits and appeals faster, while also maintaining proper audit history of those documents within Brightree Document Management.
  • Unified Administrative Worklist - A unified administrative worklist and consolidated workflow enables scanning personnel to monitor unfiled documents and transfer management and ownership of aging document batches to better leverage review and indexing resources.

Current customers will receive notification from their Brightree representative around the new features. Providers on other document imaging systems can learn more about the solution by calling 1-888.598.7797 or visiting Brightree online.
