Cogent OA is delighted to announce a partnership with Medpharm Publications of South Africa to co-publish several of its society-affiliated journals, providing leading online functionality and marketing services to further increase visibility and global reach. This exciting development coincides with Medpharm's celebration of 25 years in the field of medical scientific publishing.

Cogent OA will provide publishing services and a cutting-edge new content development website for South African Family Practice; Journal of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes of South Africa; Southern African Journal of Anaesthesia and Analgesia; and Southern African Journal of Gynaecological Oncology, with further titles earmarked for future publication. All these journals are fully accredited by the South African Department of Higher Education and Training.

Specialising in open access, academic society publishing solutions, Medpharm is one of the largest and most innovative medical and pharmaceutical publishers in South Africa. In this role, Medpharm will continue to manage the circulation of print editions for the South African market and the pre-press process, drawing on a partnership with Taylor & Francis' South African editorial office and its productive relationship with co-publisher NISC.

All non-commissioned articles will continue to be published under a Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial License (CC-BY-NC), which allows authors to retain copyright of their work, and users to share, copy and distribute a work.

Bryan Vickery, Director of Cogent OA, says: "We are delighted to be collaborating with Medpharm to further build an international audience for high-quality South African research and enable even more scientists, clinicians and healthcare workers from around the world to discover and connect with these prestigious journals. Our international marketing, state-of-the-art digital platform and passion for the open dissemination of scientific research offer an ideal complement to the top publishing services provided by Medpharm. We also wish to congratulate Medpharm on 25 years of publishing excellence."

Douw Greeff, Director of Medpharm, says: "Our partnership with Cogent OA and NISC will immediately optimise the online discoverability of local research published in our journals and will enable Medpharm to focus on developing our current South African scholarly journals in collaboration with our societies and editorial boards. Our publications must become the journals of choice for the dissemination of high-impact South African and regional research, as well as clinical and systematic reviews. While we will now be able to offer a world-class online publishing solution to our researchers, we will also be producing top-quality local editions for distribution to our society members. Our aim and passion is to generate editorial content that will have a positive impact on patient outcomes. We are very pleased to partner with Cogent OA and NISC, and we are very proud to celebrate our 25th anniversary with this announcement."
