Over 2,300 running enthusiasts and members of the community came together to participate in the third annual Thanksgiving Day 5K. Thousands of crew, volunteers and spectators supported the racers along the 3.1 mile route.

"The Thanksgiving Day 5K is a great way for families, friends, and members of the community to get a healthy start to their holiday," said Ryan Dawkins, Race Director of the Thanksgiving Day 5K.

"We are honored and excited by the turnout at today's race and are especially proud of all of the donations to the SF-Marin Food Bank. Every participant played an important part in helping to feed the city," Dawkins added.

The 3.1 mile route started and finished at China Basin Park and passed along San Francisco's famous Embarcadero and continued under the Bay Bridge.

This year, the Thanksgiving Day 5K partnered with the SF-Marin Food Bank to help combat hunger in the Bay Area. Race participants brought at least one non-perishable food item to the starting line. This year, participants donated over 1,385 pounds of food to the food bank.

"The partnership between Thanksgiving Day 5K and the SF-Marin Food Bank exemplifies the spirit of giving in our community," says Food Bank spokesperson Blain Johnson.

"The Food Bank's work thrives on the community support found through events like the Thanksgiving race. For every $1 donated through this partnership, the Food Bank will be able to provide three meals," added Johnson.
