Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute's (LA BioMed's) physician-researchers continue to rate among the nation's and the region's best doctors, with 44 of them listed among Southern California Super Doctors for 2015 or set to be listed among America's Top Doctors when it issues its 2015 publication later this year.

"These publications and many others have honored LA BioMed's researchers for their dedication to improving healthcare both here and around the globe," said David I. Meyer, PhD, LA BioMed president and CEO. "At LA BioMed, our many skilled physician-researchers see firsthand the challenges in the medical field today and return to the lab to find real-world healthcare solutions. They exemplify the spirit of discovery that is a hallmark of LA BioMed."

The Southern California Super Doctors list, published in the January issue of Los Angeles Magazine, recognized physicians in Los Angeles and Orange counties based on independent and peer reviews. MSP Communications, a research firm and publisher of Super Doctors, asked the region's physicians which doctors they would choose if they needed medical care. A blue-ribbon panel of the top-ranked physicians in each specialty area evaluated the nominees to determine who were the most respected and talented in their fields. This list was subjected to an independent assessment of the physician's records before the doctors were named Southern California Super Doctors.

To determine America's Top Doctors, Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. publishing group surveys thousands of physicians and other healthcare professionals to identify the best doctors in every specialty. Castle Connolly said it conducts mail and online surveys, and its physician-led research team makes thousands of phone calls each year, talking with leading specialists, chairs of clinical departments and vice presidents of medical affairs to identify the top specialists for most diseases and procedures.

Among the LA BioMed physician-researchers named to the two lists are specialists in cardiology, endocrinology, immunology, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology, obstetrics/gynecology, oncology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, psychiatry, pulmonary medicine, surgery and other specialties.
