Enlivant, a national provider of senior care services, is proud to announce that employee Jerry Carson was honored by the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) with a 2015 Hero Award, a recognition that celebrates outstanding senior living staff members across the nation. Carson, a maintenance technician at Manning Place, Enlivant's senior living community in Greer, S.C., is one of five heroes chosen as representatives and role models from tens of thousands of senior living community professionals nationwide.
"At Enlivant we celebrate the core values of compassion, humility, integrity, excellence, and fun. Jerry embodies who we are as a company, not only in his role as maintenance technician, but in his steadfast willingness to go above and beyond for the residents and employees of his community," said Enlivant Chief Executive Officer Jack Callison. "We're thrilled ALFA has recognized Jerry's outstanding service at Manning Place. He's a clear example of our commitment to enriching the lives of our residents each and every day."
Carson has served nearly four years as maintenance technician for Enlivant, a national senior housing company committed to providing assisted care solutions to older adults and their families in vibrant, compassionate communities. As a part of this organization, he has become known by employees, residents, and their families for his positive and empathetic nature. He lives Enlivant's core value of excellence each day, ensuring his community is a safe, clean, and friendly environment where residents can thrive.
"The 2015 ALFA Hero Award winners are exemplars of the extraordinary work done every day in senior living communities across the nation," said James Balda, president and CEO of ALFA. "Their devotion and enthusiasm for serving seniors are the reasons more older adults choose to call senior living communities their home."
Carson was officially honored at an awards luncheon during the ALFA 2015 Conference & Expo in Tampa, Florida on May 6. Special guest Ed Asner helped present the awards to the winners.
"I was surprised and humbled to win the ALFA Hero Award," said Carson. "My granddaddy raised me and I see a little part of him in the residents here. He taught me to treat others the way you want to be treated, and that's the wisdom I live by every day."
To further honor Carson and celebrate his accomplishments, Enlivant is hosting Jerry Carson Day on May 20 at Manning Place. The event will include some of Carson's favorite music and food. More than 200 people are expected to attend including residents, families and local Greer officials and residents.
