Three Prime Healthcare Systems hospitals named among 100 top community hospitals in nation

Three Prime Healthcare Systems hospitals have been named among the 100 Best Community Hospitals in the nation by Becker's Healthcare.

Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood, CA., Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville, CA., and Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center in Garden Grove, CA., made the prestigious list for 2015 as compiled by the Becker's team of experts.

Becker's Healthcare, the leading source of cutting-edge business and legal analysis for the healthcare industry, defines community hospitals as those with fewer than 550 beds that have minimal teaching programs.

Becker's team selected community hospitals based on rankings and awards from such organizations as iVantage Health Analytics, Truven Health Analytics, Healthgrades and CareChex. When analyzing the qualifications of each hospital, the team sought to answer specific questions, such as "Would you take a loved one here for care? Would this hospital be on a short list of places to visit for an important procedure or health issue?"

According to Becker's, each hospital selected has a strong foundation of high-quality care, stellar credentials and a focus on doing what is right for the patients in its community. The honored hospitals are home to many medical and scientific breakthroughs, provide best-in-class patient care and are stewards of their communities, serving as research hubs or local anchors of wellness.

Centinela Hospital was previously named the No. 25 hospital in California by U.S. News & World Report, among the top hospitals in the Los Angeles metropolitan area in its 2014-15 rankings, and was designated Hospital of the Year in 2014 by the LA Business Journal. Centinela is fully accredited by the Joint Commission, is ranked a 100 Top Hospital in the nation by Truven Health Analytics four years in a row, and is the recipient of numerous excellence awards from Healthgrades. It is the only hospital serving Inglewood and sees more than 140,000 patients and their families each year.

Desert Valley Hospital was founded in 1994 and received the coveted "accreditation with commendation" designation from the Joint Commission in its first year of operation. In 2015, Desert Valley Hospital was named a 100 Top Hospital by Truven Health Analytics and received the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence and the Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades.

Garden Grove is a 167-bed hospital located more than 30 miles south of Los Angeles. It was named a 100 Top Hospital by Truven Health Analytics in 2015. The hospital also received the Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades this year.
