Dexcom, Inc., a leader in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) for patients with diabetes, today announced the availability of enhanced data sharing features for physician and patient users of the Dexcom CLARITY® diabetes management solution. The cloud-based solution simplifies CGM data reporting and management, and now facilitates the secure sharing of data between physicians and their patients enabling both to gain quick access to important insights that can be used to assess treatment outcomes. DexcomCLARITY works with the Dexcom G5® Mobile Continuous Glucose Monitoring System by automatically sending a patient's CGM data to a secure cloud-based system that can easily be accessed by the patient’s health care professional.

“Continuous glucose monitoring is considered the most significant breakthrough in diabetes management in the past 40 years and advances such as Dexcom CLARITY make it an even more impactful tool for improved diabetes management,” said Kevin Sayer, Chief Executive Officer of Dexcom.“Dexcom CLARITY simplifies the interpretation of CGM-generated data and allows for automated summaries and insights for physicians, empowering them to assess if a diabetes treatment plan is working.”

The new clinic portal integrates seamlessly into the existing Dexcom CLARITY platform that patients and their physicians use to view retrospective CGM-generated blood glucose values. To connect with patients, clinicians can generate an email that invites their patient to securely share their CGM data. Once patients accept the invitation, they are linked to their physician’s office and their data will be automatically shared as they use their iOS enabled smart device and the Dexcom G5 Mobile app or they can share data by connecting their receiver to their computer. Physicians are able to see all of the retrospective glucose data that patients see through the CGM system, facilitating more informed diabetes management guidance.  In addition, CLARITY enables clinicians to manage their patient roster, generate and export multiple reports, and export raw CGM data values for additional review.

The Dexcom CLARITY diabetes management solution enables all users to review past glucose levels from their Dexcom CGM over user-defined time periods. The system presents the most relevant patterns and trends to help patients and physicians make better diabetes management decisions. The Dexcom CLARITY dashboard calculates an estimated A1C, average glucose, time-in-range, and standard deviation, so physicians can quickly assess the quality of the patient’s glycemic control. In addition to a comprehensive set of data visualizations, a new "overlay" interactive graph compiles glucose trend data into a weekly overview, adding context to the frequency, duration and intensity of patterns of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and hyperglycemia (high blood sugar).

Participating physicians are provided with comprehensive training of the Dexcom CLARITY software. The platform is available on both Mac and Windows operating systems.
