New intervention may reduce sitting time of office workers

NewsGuard 100/100 Score

If you work in an office or behind a desk, chances are that you spend most of your day sitting. With too much sitting now linked to poor health, it is important to understand how to reduce the time that we sit, and whether this change can be maintained in the long term. This study examined the impact of an intervention designed to reduce the amount of time workers spend sitting. The investigators found that the intervention substantially reduced the sitting time of office workers both during work hours and across the day. Importantly, these changes were still seen after 12 months. The key next step is to adapt this intervention for wide-scale use by workplaces.
