3DISC, a manufacturer of digital imaging solutions, will debut its next-generation FireCR+M Medical and FireCR+M Veterinary Readers at the 2012 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting in Chicago Nov. 25-30 (Booth #4406). FireCR+M Readers are capable of scanning multiple cassette sizes, while offering the same high image quality, speed, and performance that are hallmarks of 3DISC's growing CR reader product family.

The FireCR+ Medical and Veterinary product lines offer a wide range of models and options—including a variety of imaging speeds that can be upgraded in the field—providing solutions to meet any requirements and budget. The new FireCR+M Medical and Veterinary Readers are tabletop systems that support a full range of the most-used cassette sizes—10 cm x 24 cm, 24 cm x 30 cm, and 35 cm x 43 cm/14" x 17". The company also will continue to offer its versatile FireCR+ Medical and Veterinary Readers, which can be placed on a tabletop or wall-mounted, and support two universal cassette sizes.

According to Sigrid Smitt-Jeppesen, CEO of 3DISC Americas, the company serves a broad spectrum of customers—from radiology departments and medical practices in areas such as orthopedics, podiatry, and chiropractic, to veterinary practices and clinics of all sizes. "Our customers in the medical and veterinary imaging fields are not 'one size fits all,' so we recognized that it was important to provide a full range of options," she said. "With 3DISC, there is no need for customers to compromise on features and functionality. They can select a system that meets their exact needs and budgets—and also have flexibility that lets them grow."

According to Thomas Weldingh, CEO of 3DISC Europe, a key part of this flexibility—and one that is unique to 3DISC—is the ability to upgrade to higher imaging speeds with a simple smart card update. "Customers can select a 3DISC reader that meets their current needs and budgets, and then scale up as their imaging volume increases," Weldingh said. "Our customers appreciate the peace of mind that comes from knowing their technology investment is protected."

The FireCR+ and FireCR+M Medical and Veterinary Readers are built on pioneering technology that increases productivity, with a throughput of up to 70 plates per hour, providing crisp, clear images for viewing, archiving, and distribution. The compact systems offer full DICOM connectivity and allow users to capture high-quality images of any body part. Imaging parameters are optimized, resulting in digital images that can be enhanced, enlarged, duplicated, and sent to any location in seconds with no loss of resolution. All imaging functions are performed with 3DISC's next-generation QuantorMed± and QuantorVet± Imaging Software.

The FireCR+M Medical and FireCR+M Veterinary Readers will be available worldwide in the first quarter of 2013.
