NewsGuard 100/100 Score

The BVM Group has introduced the WMP-227V, a 21.5-inch touchscreen PanelPC developed specifically for use in medical applications and certified to the third edition of EN 60601 -1. The standard defines the basic safety and essential performance requirements of medical electrical equipment and medical electrical systems used in the diagnosis, treatment, or monitoring of a patient. The fanless unit has an anti-bacterial IP65 sealed wipe-clean housing with the cable connectors covered by a smooth fitted panel. The HD 1920 x 1080 16:9 LCD has a 5-wire resistive touchscreen as standard. A projective capacitive version, which supports multi-touch to enable pinch and zoom, is optionally available. The device is based on the third Generation Ivy Bridge Intel Core i7/i5/i3 processors with HD Graphics running under the HM65 Express chipset and addressing 8GB of RAM. Dual-screen display is supported via the integral DVI port, enabling a larger screen to be used in, say, an operating theatre where several people may need to view an image simultaneously.

The unit has Windows 7 Pro Embedded installed on a 320B HDD. The standard unit has a PCIe x16 Slot or PCI Slot, 4 USB2.0 ports and 2 Gigabit LAN ports. Many options are available: an 802.11 wireless LAN interface, Bluetooth, a 2M pixel USB webcam and microphone, a USB RFID reader and an anti-microbial desktop stand. An autoranging 90 - 264VAC external power source can be complemented with an optional internal Lithium-Ion battery pack for backup purposes.
