The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation recently announced that Stefano Bertozzi will head up its HIV programs starting August 31, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports (8/27).

According to Seattle Times' blog, "The Business of Giving," Bertozzi has worked for the past 11 years at Mexico's National Institute of Public Health, where he has directed its Center for Evaluation Research & Surveys, and is an expert in health economics. He also chairs the Steering Committee of aids2031, and worked with the Gates Foundation in previous roles at UNAIDS, WHO and the World Bank.
