The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) today announced it is awarding up to $1.9 million over three years for the National Center for Mental Health Promotion and Youth Violence Prevention -- a technical assistance center. The funds will be used by the center to assist new Project LAUNCH (Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children's Health) grantees to establish programs to address children's health issues.
The purpose of Project LAUNCH is to promote the wellness of young children, birth to 8 years of age. The National Technical Assistance Center provides an array of technical assistance services that will improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of the Project LAUNCH projects.
The grantee, the Education Development Center, Inc., Newton, plans to , implement and sustain activities that foster resilience, promote health and mental health and prevent youth violence and mental and behavioral disorders. The Center's work focuses on carrying out evidence-based interventions for early childhood wellness and behavioral health at the individual, family and community levels.
The Center is projected to receive up to $619,999 per year for up to three years. The actual award amounts may vary, depending on the availability of funds and the progress achieved by the awardees.
