LUMEDX announces subscription of 50 hospitals to cardiovascular SaaS solution

NewsGuard 100/100 Score

LUMEDX Corporation, a leading provider of vendor-neutral, integrated medical imaging and information systems, announced today that 50 hospitals now subscribe to its cardiovascular software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution. LUMEDX's SaaS delivery model allows clients to access and utilize software remotely via the web — resulting in faster implementations and lower licensing, maintenance and personnel costs. The service also includes built-in disaster recovery and high-intensity security systems.

“All of these procedures and safeguards ensure the confidentiality, availability and integrity (CIA) of data.”

LUMEDX clients can choose from two SaaS offerings, each designed to accommodate hospitals' differing business goals and IT infrastructures. The first is a fully hosted solution that includes all necessary applications, modules and interfaces. A second, hybrid solution allows clients to install LUMEDX server-enabled products onsite and synchronize additional LUMEDX applications from their facility to the LUMEDX hosting center.

According to LUMEDX IT Director/Security Officer Michael B. Hughes, "The appeal of SaaS is that it enables the hospital to access full software functionality at a cost typically less than paying for licensed applications because SaaS pricing is based on a monthly fee. Remote hosting also eliminates the costs of additional hardware investments, not to mention the time and resources required for installation, set-up and daily maintenance. SaaS is an ideal solution for hospitals that want to avoid new equipment costs or investments in personnel."

Speed is also a benefit of a SaaS model, as a much smaller SaaS investment can mean a faster approval. And with SaaS, the long lead time associated with securing and deploying equipment and additional staff for a server installation is eliminated.

"LUMEDX SaaS solutions offer robust built-in disaster recovery features," explains Michael B. Hughes, "which is of extreme importance to Hospital CIO's, IT Directors and Security Officers. Data is stored and backed up off site twice: once at the LUMEDX Hosting Center and again at another offsite data center. And because the LUMEDX Hosting Center is a hardened facility, it deploys the latest tools for privacy and security protection. These include an annual SAS 70 Type II Audit." (Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a SAS 70 Audit is the industry standard for data center controls and compliance.) "All of these procedures and safeguards ensure the confidentiality, availability and integrity (CIA) of data."

LUMEDX's entire CVIS-PACS product line is SaaS-enabled and available over the web anywhere in the world.
