House Republicans said Thursday that they plan to consider two significant bills next week that would prevent taxpayer-funded abortions. One of the controversial measures was slightly modified after abortion rights supporters lashed out against language that included limits on exemptions for such situations as rape and incest (Adams, 2/3).
Politico: Medical Device Makers Want Tax Repealed
The CEOs of 16 medical device companies descended on Capitol Hill to make the case for their industry. Asking for the repeal of the medical device tax in the health care law and continued improvements to the FDA's 510(k) regulatory process, they said they worried the booming industry would lose its competitive edge in the economy (Nocera, 2/4).
