Dots, LLC announced today that it will donate $91,086 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to help fund ground-breaking research and life-saving community outreach projects through the "Girlfriends Giving Back" partnership program.

Only in its second year, the Dots "Girlfriends Giving Back" program nearly quadrupled the 2010 donation pledge amount with the sale of three great items including a plush puppy with a signature Dots fragrance, graphic t-shirts and pink rhinestone rings.  Dots promised the organization a minimum of $20,000, however surpassed the goal by an additional $71,000. This was also the first year Dots sold merchandise online at www.dots.com, in addition to all Dots stores.

"This donation is just one example of the dedication and charitable commitment the Dots team has made to positively impact communities we live," said Rick Bunka, Dots President.  "We're thrilled to champion a worthwhile cause, and we could not successfully do so without the energy and excitement of our staff and the generosity of our customers."

"Dots continues to be committed and passionate about the challenges facing our communities.  Our donation can help make a difference in the ability to educate women about breast cancer and this initiative is just one way for Dots and our customers to do more, reach more women and save lives," said Bunka.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women, except for skin cancers. The chance of developing invasive breast cancer at some time in a woman's life is a little less than 1 in 8. About 207,090 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in 2010, according to the American Cancer Society.
