PURE Bioscience, Inc. (NASDAQ: PURE), creator of the patented silver dihydrogen citrate (SDC) antimicrobial, today announced that Child Safety Network (CSN) has named PURE the winner of its 2011 National Child Safety Award and has granted PURE Hard Surface™ disinfectant its Safe Family Seal of Approval. CSN, a non-profit children's safety advocacy organization, develops and implements educational safety programs with the mission to reduce the likelihood of children becoming victims of abuse, abduction, exploitation and injury.

“We are pleased and honored to be again recognized by CSN for our efforts to provide next-generation disinfection protection for children at home, at school and at play.”

Michael L. Krall, President and CEO of PURE Bioscience, will accept the awards on behalf of PURE on April 30, 2011 at the 2011 California State PTA Annual Convention in front of 3,500 PTA presidents who represent nine million children. PURE is launching its new, proprietary PURE Hard Surface brand of disinfectant and food contact surface sanitizer at the convention as a fundraising opportunity for schools. Krall stated, "We are pleased and honored to be again recognized by CSN for our efforts to provide next-generation disinfection protection for children at home, at school and at play." An earlier version SDC-based disinfectant product had received the CSN Safe Family Seal of Approval in 2005.

Krall continued, "According to the CDC, every day in the United States 374 children are treated in an emergency department and two children die as a result of poisoning. Children are unnecessarily exposed to outdated and toxic disinfection products that can put them at risk; however, at the same time, we must move aggressively to protect children from increasingly prevalent and dangerous pathogens. SDC-based PURE Hard Surface solves this dilemma by providing superior efficacy along with residual protection without the threat of accidental poisoning."

Ward Leber, Founder and CEO of Child Safety Network, commented on the awards, "PURE Hard Surface is simply the safest, most effective product ever invented to kill germs. PURE eliminates what others can't in as few as 30 seconds and lasts a full 24 hours after application. CSN challenged the major chemical companies to develop an effective but non-toxic disinfectant to combat the growing threat of bacteria, viruses and fungi. Only PURE Bioscience answered that challenge with a revolutionary new technology containing the first new disinfectant active ingredient to be registered by the US EPA in over 30 years. That's why CSN has named PURE the 2011 winner of the coveted National Child Safety Award for protecting our children and has awarded the PURE Hard Surface disinfectant product the CSN Safe Family Seal of Approval."

PURE Hard Surface provides an unparalleled combination of high efficacy and low toxicity with 30-second bacterial kill times and 24-hour residual protection. PURE Hard Surface completely kills resistant pathogens like MRSA and also effectively eliminates dangerous fungi and viruses including HIV, Norovirus, Influenza A, Avian Influenza and H1N1. PURE Hard Surface is registered for use on food contact surfaces and is gentle enough to be used in sensitive children's areas. PURE Hard Surface has been registered by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the State of California. The other state registrations are in process.
