Kool Smiles, a leading dental health provider for children and adults, now has opened its doors to additional families in Maryland with a new office location in Takoma Park. Kool Smiles of Takoma Park officially opened on May 2 as the organization continues to expand access to quality dental care for families in underserved communities across the nation.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that tooth decay currently affects more than 19 percent of U.S. children aged 2-19 — more than any other chronic infectious disease. Untreated pain and infections may lead to developmental problems, such as eating, speaking, playing and learning.

"Our expansion into Takoma Park provides yet another opportunity for our dentists to reverse the alarming rate of untreated dental cases among families in need," said Dr. Polly Buckey, DDS, MS, a board certified Pediatric Dentist who serves as the national spokesperson for Kool Smiles.

The new Kool Smiles office, which accepts most types of insurance including MCHIP and MD Medicaid, offers quality dental care in a new, family-friendly environment.

"We are excited to partner with area schools, daycare centers and local social service agencies to share the importance of oral health and education with families in Takoma Park," Buckey said.
