NewsGuard 100/100 Score

AARP and the Philadelphia Department of Recreation will be hosting an outdoor Health and Wellness event on Monday June 20, 2011 from 12:00 pm- 2:00 pm at Love Park in Center City Philadelphia. The event is designed to empower 50+ individuals and busy Center City workers who want to take a lunch time break and learn more about living a healthy lifestyle. The AARP Health and Wellness Power Lunch will feature interactive fitness activities and free educational information on quality of life issues. The event will also have community exhibitors, WDAS, 105.3 FM and free healthy snacks.

Health at 50+ is often predicated on behaviors and interventions earlier in life. At AARP we are concerned about the health of Americans across the lifespan.

Researchers at the Center for Disease Control have found that "physical activity, good nutrition, and not smoking can keep people healthy and delay disability by at least 10 years."

Regular physical activity prevents or delays such conditions as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, certain types of cancer, depression, and musculoskeletal problems.
